An Eventful Week

This week had one thing after another happen. On Thursday everything finally settled down.

On Monday afternoon as I was getting ready to head home from work and one of the girls spilt her mop bucket of water out all over the floor. She didn't tell anyone and a half hour later we found out that the mop water had gone under my boss' door and got into all our stereo system's cords. I tested it cautiously to see if it would shock me and it didn't but the girl who was mopping it up hit my arm and I was shocked from my hand up into my neck. It was a strange feeling.

Tuesday rolled around and with it a storm in the evening. During the storm our electricity went out and was out for 5 hours. My neighbors Mark and Nikki came over and we played Phase 10 until pretty late and we decided to finish the game on Wednesday.

One of my roommates wanted to check her phone messages on Wednesday night. While we were up top the weather was getting so bad. I was watching it and all the sudden you could literally see the clouds rolling towards us. I asked Julianna if she was done and she said wait a minute. The clouds rapidly started coming towards us and I told Julianna sorry but we were getting back in the canyon. I peeled out and rushed down into camp. Not even 5 minutes later I got a call from my neighbor Mark saying to take cover and head to the Westley. I told him I wasn't leaving my pups so I would go to the storm shelter that is just below the trailers with them. He said that was fine and that they would just stay with us and they would meet us down there. I am glad that they did because they had a radio and we could keep up with what was happening in camp. Nothing hit us but the weather was horrible and we had to take cover for an hour. During that time we finished our Phase 10 game. It started in the dark and we finished it in the dark. :)

I hope all is going well for all of you. Take care!

LifeSong Retreat

We are finally getting things finalized for the retreat I shared with yall about a few months ago. My friend Sheila was at camp for a couple of weeks and we were able to work on dates, times, brochures, etc...

The date for the retreat will be November 6-8.

This is a retreat for women who have inner struggles. We would love to have you pass on information to those you know about the retreat to those you think would be interested or those that you believe would benefit from it. The retreat is being offered ladies starting at the age of 18 years of age and up. If you know of a young lady who is younger but you think the retreat would be good for them you will just need to have them call our office and visit with Mark Andrews. We will allow ladies under the age of 18 but due to liability reasons there are different things that would have to take place with them. They would have to bring a mother or an adult female mentor with them.

The retreat is for women with inner struggles (for example: self image problems, eating disorders, cutting, struggling with loss/death, etc...). This is a time of retreat and not treatment though we are going to have people there who are going to school for counseling or who have a counseling background. The retreat's going to be called LifeSong: Getting Out of the Pit.

If you have any questions or would like for a brochure to be mailed to you please email me at dena@cetacanyon.org. If you would like multiple brochures to help promote this retreat email me and when we have them made up I will make sure to get them to you. We need help with advertising and word of mouth will probably be our biggest way of publicity. We are targeting women's classes, singles, college age students, etc... If you know someone that would benefit from this retreat but you don't know if they will come alone. They are welcome to bring friends/mentors. We plan to start promoting it in August and try to have brochures ready for mid September.

I hope that you all are doing great and I would appreciate it if you would please keep this retreat in your prayers as the day approaches.

New Roommate

I now have added another roommate to my little trailer. It has been a big adjustment for me having 3 people in my home verses only me or just me and my roommate Kelsey. My newest roommate is Julianna and she is from Romania. I am not sure how long she will be staying at camp. She has expressed the desire to stay year round but she has been battling lonliness.

Please pray for me as I desire to serve and minister to all those who enter into my home!

Computer Problems Fixed!

Well my computer problems have been fixed although there was some information that has been lost. I lost all my emails or at least the current ones. So for whoever reads this please email me at dena@cetacanyon.org so that I can get email addresses back in my computer. Thanks everyone!

Happy Birthday Baby Kate!

Today is my precious niece's birthday. She is 2 years old and it is amazing how fast they grow. Her party is this afternoon but I won't be able to go. I hope they have a wonderful time! Happy Birthday Baby Kate!

Sad Day for My Computer & an Update

This afternoon I was trying to get on my computer and it was showing that something unexpected had happened during shut down. I tried doing everything the recommended way to restore the problem and then it came up that it was unable to restore on it's own. I called the Dell technical support and due to them being afraid of loosing all my data that was on my hard drive they are waiting for me to back everything up while my computer is on safe mode before restoring it. Thank the Lord for warranties. The warranty goes out in April so I am thinking about extending it up to 2 years just in case this happens again. So needless to say I am back to using my old computer until this is resolved. Hopefully it will be fixed on Tuesday!

Camp is slowing down now. We have 2 groups both approximately 150. One at our small camp and the other at the large camp. My friend Sheila who is working on the retreat for the fall with me is coming down and will be here over the next 2 weeks as a counselor with the groups that will be here and we will be working on finalizing everything so we can start publicizing! It looks as though the retreat will be Nov. 6-8. There is a lot of Ceta Staff that is coming together to help us with planning, be small group leaders, etc... It is so encouraging to see so many people that are willing to help and see this come pass. Sheila and I have put in a lot of prayer time, planning, and thought into this and I pray it will bring the Lord much glory as the day approaches and the young women are here. Please continue to pray for us and the girls/women that the Lord has planned to be here.

If you are willing to help us publicize this by handing out flyers and such to different places that you think would bring the right females to this event please let me know and when we get everything finalized and printed out I will mail you a bundle to pass out.

The Hill Family Reunion

We had a fun family reunion this year. It is so nice being able to reconnect with my family each year and get to know them. Being raised in Washington my first family reunion was when I was 13 years old and I had stayed the summer with my Grandma. The next on was when I was 20 years old my first summer living in Texas. Because of work I didn't go for about 6 years and over the past 4 summers I have asked off and gone and sure has been a blessing.

This year I traveled down with my Grandma and Aunts (Lorita and Joy). I slept so much but it was good and fun. We bought shoes, went to the outlet mall in Terrelton, and got in really late to my cousin's house where we were staying.
