My First Trick or Treaters!

After almost 13 years of living on my own I finally had my first trick or treaters! :) Every year that I lived in the city that is I would always be prepared for them to show up but no one ever came. Here at Sacramento we have 2 little boys Caleb which is the airplane and Elisha who is the spaceship who showed up to trick or treat (these are Aaron and Nicolette's children). I got 2 pictures which has at least one of them looking at me. LOL! Next year they will have a little brother to come with them too. I bet they are loving being the only 2 kiddos on camp they really hit the jackpot at our homes I am sure. :)

It's Beginning to Feel Like Christmas!

I have been working on getting my Christmas shopping since August in hopes to get it done by Thanksgiving and now my Christmas shopping is completed! I have been getting some decorations for my home too so here are a few pictures of them. With the snow we had a couple of days ago it really felt like Christmas around here and I almost pulled out my decorations but I held off which is good because today you can't hardly tell it snowed except for a few patches of snow. :)

My First ATV Ride

On September 26th our staff had a going away ATV ride and supper for my friends Terry and Vicky. I had never driven an ATV except for one time which was during our 4th of July parade and all I had to do was drive in a circle 2 times. My friend Cindy from work took me out on the 25th for a little over an hour on an ATV on our camp trails to teach and show me what to do so I would feel more comfortable about going on the 26th. After Cindy and I had our ride around camp and she showed me some things I did feel a lot better. I am so thankful I was able to go and spend the day with our staff. They are all such a blessing. I also found out that I really loved going on the ride. We took a 60 mile ride on the Forest roads. It was just as the trees were starting to change color and it was beautiful! :) Here are a few pictures from the ride and dinner.

Wreckless and Daisy didn't get to go on the ride

so this is where they spent the day :)

Joys of Camp Life at Sacramento - Summer 2011

Hello Everyone!

I am working to try and catch up my blog from the last few months. I am very sorry but when summer hits camp life gets busy and a bit crazy at times and free time is limited. At times I wake up and spend my day at camp and then come home take my shower and go to bed right away. I love camp life and when it gets tiring it is always a good kind of tired. So I want to share with you a bit about my perspective of camp life. :)

This is my first Summer at Sacramento Camp and Conference Center. I loved my first summer here and learned a lot too which is always a blessing! My days are filled with variety which is wonderful. Some of the things I am privileged to do is cleaning rooms, laundry, dishes, programming, snack and gift, collecting trash, etc... There is always something to do and you can never wonder what to do next. Fridays and Sundays are huge turn around days in the summer (which means we are cleaning the rooms that were previously used before the groups come in to use them that day). About mid summer we experienced a close call with the Little Lewis Fire which you can read about in the previous post. We had to evacuate camp for a few days and while we were waiting to find out if we would be able to reopen in time for the weekend groups the Lord opened the clouds and blessed us with a huge rain fall and the evacuation was lifted. We then provided for the firefighters who were fighting multiple fires in our area as well as cleaning up from the fires too. Our camp was hopping during meal times. Our kitchen staff had meals at 6am, 8am, 12pm, 530pm, and 7pm plus preparing sack lunches for the firefighters for the next day. In late July and August we had more rain than I had ever seen! It was wonderful! This is only a glimpse into camp life just know that but I hope that yall will enjoy learning a bit more about what I do here in the Sacramento Mountains. I love camp ministry and feel so blessed that the Lord chose me for this ministry and not just in any camp but in the ministry at Sacramento!

Here are a few pictures from this summer that I wanted to share with you. Enjoy! :)
