Little Lewis Fire

"The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower." ~Psalm 18:2

At the end of June Sacramento was at risk of being burned by the Little Lewis Fire. The Lord was so wonderful to camp and decided to place a hedge of protection around it and not allow Satan to have his way. We had a precautionary evacuation for the Sacramento staff and the group that was on camp at the time. By the end of the evening and after evacuating the group I visited with my camp director and decided to remain on camp because the risk wasn't that night but the next day. I had loaded up a couple of things in a hurry before helping to evacuate our group which mainly consisted of a few personal things, and making sure I had what was needed for the pups. That night when I decided to stay I went through my home and took out some extra time to pack up some irreplaceable items. The next day is when they came up to us a little while after lunch and told everyone to leave. I told Bill where I was going and picked up my pups and we headed out with a couple of my friends on staff. We were told the fire was headed for camp. The Lord was so wonderful to provide for me a place at the vets for Wreckless and Daisy-Rose for a couple of days. Poor Wreckless was really scared and the vet was able to calm him down without having to use meds. Daisy just wanted to be held but was doing really good though she was a bit nervous too. The next day we called Bill and went back to work to prepare for the group that was coming in that weekend. My car remained packed for a good 5 days with all but my clothes and computer I think. God was so good to Sacramento! He provided plenty of help to fight the fire and air planes as well as helicopters were flying and dropping water and fire retardant. It sounded like a war zone for a few days but there was no structural damage to camp outside of some red areas around camp. :) The day I decided to pick up the pups we had 270 firefighters coming in that we were going to start cooking and making sack lunches for. All the way to Cloudcroft there was rain clouds so close to camp but weren't coming. I prayed the entire way there and all the way back. By the time I got home the Lord opened up the skies and the Lord dumped buckets upon buckets of water on camp. It came the day that our group was suppose to come in and the decision was to be made a couple of hours from then. When the rain came they opened the roads and the evacuation was lifted! God is so amazing and all I can do is stand in awe of Him! Here are a few pictures that I took and 2 that camp had emailed us. The firefighters left camp 2 days ago and it is so strange not having them hanging out around camp. It was so much fun to see them laid back, relaxing, and having fun by the time they left.
